About

The future of biotech will not be decided by who has the best model.

It will be decided by which companies can turn new capability into the way they actually work. That capacity has a name. I call it translational intelligence, and this is where I write about building it.

Alexander Titus
Who writes this

I am Alexander Titus. I go by Titus. I have spent more than a decade in AI, and the last five years rebuilding organizations to meet the technology of today with an operating model built for tomorrow. Pandemic response at Google. The genotype-to-phenotype engineering team at Colossal. Enterprise AI transformation at Avidity. The same charge now at Alloy, through Vigilance. And a Commissioner advising Congress on the future of emerging biotech.

Different missions, same work, and the same lesson every time: the technology is the easy part, and the human part is most of the job, by a wide margin.

What this is

One idea, built out over time. It is for the people who run, fund, govern, and transform biotech companies, and the ones who want to. If you are asking how to transform your company for the age of AI, I wrote this for you.

What it is not

Not a news digest. Not a tool-review newsletter. Not breathless, and not doom. It does not exist to summarize the internet or to sell you my consulting. The writing is free, and it stays that way; if you want me in your room, that is a separate conversation, and you never need it to get the whole playbook. Everything here has to stand on its own and be useful to a serious leader, whether or not you care who wrote it.

Why it is open

Ideas only do their work when they travel. I want a CEO to forward a piece to the executive team, a board member to send a framework to management. That does not happen when the useful part sits behind a login.

So this is my answer at scale. Nothing held back, nothing confidential. The edge was never a secret formula. It was the willingness to do the hard, human work of change, and then to do it again.

How this is made

One thing I will say plainly, because I ask you to say it too. This publication is AI-assisted human work product. I use AI to draft, to pressure-test my thinking, and to build the site itself. I am the author of record, and I own every word, every number, and every diagram, no matter who or what produced the first version. There is no AI work product, only this. For the full accounting, read how this was built by its own rules.

I called this translational intelligence on purpose, because the more intelligently we all operate, the faster we translate science into therapies. Subscribe, and I will send each piece as it goes out. Or if you are ready to talk, here is how to reach me.

Cheers,
Titus
